"It was a great opportunity to see something of an East European country without the capitals. The scenery was fascinating, and the peace and quiet of the woods, with lots of wildlife and wildflowers etc was great. We could have done with better weather, but that's life - judicious timing of an impromptu lunch in Turnov and a couple of stops for tea or beer saved us from much of the worst. The train ride from Jicin to Nymburk was a hoot - we provided a source of curiosity for a group from a village primary school, who then plucked up their courage and instigated an impromptu English language seminar - memorable." "We found the scenery awesome and the tourist information on the terrain fascinating. Day three was one of the most magical day's walking we have had anywhere in Europe and was brilliant from start to finish. It was probably as well that Vranov was not open as stated at 09.00 or we would have finished really late. Day 6 was also quite amazing and probably Day 2 in better weather.
