| Day 1 |
Arrive in Besalú, an engaging medieval town with a busy weekly market, famously beautiful stone bridge and cobbled streets. |
| Day 2 |
Begudà to Santa Pau. By taxi to Begudà and its delightful Romanesque church of Santa Eulàlia and then through the forests up to the plateau of Batet before dropping down to the medieval village of Santa Pau. (10 km, 4½ hrs, CUSs 365m) |
| Day 3 |
Santa Pau to Sant Feliu de Pallerols. Volcanic scenery as you wind up and over La Serra del Corb (with short possible detours to the Santa Margarida volcano and Castell del Corb) and down through the volcanoes of Fontpobre and Can Tià to Sant Feliu. (15 km, 6 hrs - add 2 km, 1 hr for detours, CUSs 390m) |
| Day 4 |
Sant Feliu de Pallerols to La Salut. The morning sees you climb the ridge overlooking the village of Sant Feliu and up to the forests and pastures of the Cabrerès plateau. Once up high, a change in scenery and a gentle walk via the Roques Encantades. (11 km, 4½hrs or 16 km - 6 hrs, according to route choice, CUSs 651m) |
| Day 5 |
La Salut to Joanetes. Without losing much height you follow the edge of the Cabrerès plateau with wonderful views over La Garrotxa and north to the Pyrenees, visiting the castle of Sant Miquel de Falgars before dropping down to Joanetes. (12 km, 6 hrs, CUSs 460m) |
| Day 6 |
Joanetes to Olot. A climb in the morning to one of the most spectacular views in the whole of La Garrotxa, en route to to the stylish farmhouse of Mas Garganta. (15 km, 6 hrs, CUSs 560m) |
| Day 7 |
Olot. A day of options: relax in the environs of Mas Garganta, hire a bike and explore the valley, or walk into the town of Olot and discover its museums, Modernist houses and volcano. |
| Day 8 |
Depart hotel (or choose to stay further nights in Olot or Besalú). | |
