French Alps (2-centre)
The Mont Blanc foothills in style
Full Description

Self-guided 2-centre hike, staying at Les Contamines and Chamonix.  Great walking on a range of routes (easy to hard - you choose), combined with excellent food and wine.

Stylish accommodation and great food amid mountain grandeur

The 2-centre version of our established favourite is aimed at the walker who wants the guarantee of fine Savoyard cooking at the end of the day's walking, and the flexibility of being able to choose his or her own walking each day from a menu of differently graded options (easy to hard) depending on the weather and the season - see Itinerary for fuller descriptions of the walks. It works particularly well for those wanting to bring a car, though most of the walking is available directly from the accommodation or a short train-ride or car-lift away.

The scenery is terrific, the meadows beckoning.  The two accommodations used are among the most highly rated by our walkers - Fiona at Les Contamines (nights 1-3) has a comfortable chalet and is an excellent cook as well as being a fount of information on all things mountain, and Carla's chef at her very French hotel just outside Chamonix (nights 4-7) will reward the most demanding of palates.
