Ali Powell
Route: Dorset
Her coffee mug says “Thursday’s child has far to go”, and that has always been an ideal close to Ali’s heart. Born in what’s now Bangladesh (her dad was a tea taster), she moved back to the UK for school and then Nottingham University to study geography and archaeology. Deciding that careers in the police and museums weren’t for her, she chose to teach geography. She has been lucky to travel through Turkey to Iran, and explored Peru and Malaysia. Using French O Level she’s visited France for holidays and exchanges and is a dedicated Francophile.
Ali has walked many On Foot routes as a client, and has also worked in the office preparing walkers’ packs. She lives at Ashmore on the Dorset route, and knows the paths of Dorset and Wiltshire well. She likes good wine, reading, opera and other music and drama.
