Nicky Fussell

Route: England: The Southern Cotswolds

Nicky has lived in Gloucestershire for many years and knows the southern Cotswolds intimately. Her career has been varied, spanning roles with companies such as Nabisco Foods, Akzo Nobel and the BBC, followed by running a packaging manufacturing business with her late husband. She later spent a decade in academia, completing a doctorate in evolutionary psychology at the University of Bristol and publishing several research papers.

Now based near the historic town of Berkeley, Nicky has restored her former family home and three-acre garden, which she runs as a boutique B&B, and opens to garden lovers through the National Garden Scheme.

A keen walker and runner, Nicky is a long-standing client of On Foot Holidays and was delighted to work with them to create a Cotswolds route. The aim was to design a walk that avoids the well-trodden paths while still capturing the essence of the area — its limestone villages, historic churches, rolling countryside and excellent pubs.

Nicky has three grown-up children and a granddaughter, and when not hosting guests or supporting walkers, enjoys gardening, cooking with produce from her garden, and sharing good food and wine. She is particularly pleased to be able to share this special corner of England with fellow On Foot travellers.
